How to Enjoy Your Work Day

Do you enjoy your work day or do you dread going to work in the mornings? Do you dislike your present job? The weekend can’t get here fast enough? If all these things apply to you then maybe you need to learn how to be happy at work. Here are a few simple steps to help you through the day and to enjoy your job more.

1. Make sure you take a few minutes for yourself before you leave for work. Don’t jump out of bed just in time to hurry through getting the kids off to school and the husband off to work. Try to make a little time for you to adjust to the day.

2. Take a hot shower and dress for success. When you know that you look good, you will have a better outlook on life.

3. Have your day planned. Even when your job is very mundane, like assembly line, etc do a good job!

4. Play some of your favorite soothing music on the way to work to help you be calm and collected when you arrive.

5. Arrive at work early. When you have to rush to get to work it makes you nervous and upset before you arrive. Don’t start the day in a bad mood.

6. Say hello to everyone you meet, especially those with whom you work. Greet everyone with a smile and a good morning. Most of your greetings and smiles will be returned. It will, also, give a lift to others who are having a bad day.

7. Be thankful every day that you have a job and do your best at what you do. Thousands of people today would be delighted to have your job or any job for that matter!

8. Try to avoid negative situations. Especially people who always have a negative attitude. Avoid gossip and idle rumors, they only cause suspicion and mistrust in others.

9. Treat everyone with respect, it brings out the best in people. Sometimes a simple thank you or a good job can make the day go a lot better.

10. If you have to open mail and/or email, discard the junk mail immediately! Some people think they have to send you jokes in your email every day. Ask them to send those emails to your home. All personal email should go to your home computer unless it is an emergency.

11. Give every day your best! You may want to find another job and you will need your employer to give you a good reference. If you have done a good job for this employer, he will make sure the next one knows that you are a good employee.

It will take you awhile to do all these things, if you have not been used to doing them already. You may need to take one step at a time. Try getting up earlier and having a good attitude before you go to work then work the rest of the steps into your day. You will be surprised at how soon you can adjust to being a happier person at work and at home!
